Delta, theta and vega are rough approximations for display only — not exchange-computed greeks. Selling options can lose more than the premium received.

Calls

A call is the right to buy 100 shares at the strike before expiry. You pay a premium up front; the most you can lose buying one call is that premium. Gains rise as the underlying climbs above the strike.

P

Puts

A put is the right to sell 100 shares at the strike. Puts gain value when the underlying falls, so traders use them to speculate on downside or to hedge shares they hold.

Expiry & time decay

Every option has an expiry. Time value bleeds away as that date nears — the theta drag — and an out-of-the-money option can expire worthless, a total loss of the premium paid.

Assignment & risk

Selling (writing) options collects premium but can obligate you to buy or sell shares on assignment, and losses can exceed the premium received. Options carry substantial risk — this tool is illustrative, not advice.

Simulated options · illustrative pricing · paper. Every chain, quote, greek and order on this page is generated locally by a simple illustrative model — these are not real quotes, not a live options chain, and no real order is placed. Greeks and implied volatility are approximations for display only. Flux is not a broker-dealer and this is not connected to any brokerage. Options involve substantial risk, can expire worthless, and selling them can lose more than the premium received. Nothing here is investment advice. Trading involves risk of loss, including loss of principal.
